Services for Eligible Young People

Registration
of eligible persons on the Programme
·
Initial individual assessment of each registrant in terms of their needs to make the
transition through school and from school to work
·
Working with the young person towards development of a
Transition Plan
·
Individual
assistance with decision making, self esteem, conflict resolution, goal setting, effective study habits, budgeting and interview preparation
·
Literacy/numeracy assessment and subsequent referral to appropriate
literacy/numeracy training programme
· Access to on-going support and guidance until 31st December 2006.
· Advice about the
job placement services available through Job Network members, Group Training Companies, other providers
· Referral to other specialist Commonwealth or State programmes relevant to registrant needs
· Provide assistance to Career Advisers and other key school personnel to support and expand school vocational programmes and career services for intending school leavers
· Assistance to access
training courses with Registered Training Organisations such as TAFE
· Advice about the
local job market e.g. what jobs are available; what skills, attributes and experience employers want
· Advice and information about school-based traineeships
· Referral where appropriate to a professional career counselling workshop funded through the Career Counselling Programme
· Referral to New Apprenticeship Access Programmes (NAAP)
· Advice and information about
New Apprenticeships (including part-time, and school-based), and services available through New Apprenticeships Centres
· Advice about and assistance with accessing employment in the local job market
· Access to computers & Internet (need to book)
