Since foundation in 1994, TURSA has grown successfully, strongly and steadily – a true success story.
Tursa Employment & Training is a not-for-profit, independent organisation founded in 1994 out of personal experience of long-term unemployment, for the express purpose of addressing unemployment and alleviating disadvantage suffered by people of the region.
TURSA’s core business activity is all about work: finding work for people who need work, finding workers for businesses that need workers and preparing and training job seekers for work through its status as a Registered Training Organisation.
From a staff of one in May 1995 TURSA now employs around 400 staff, providing services to thousands of clients from over 50 conveniently located offices from Forster (NSW) to Noosaville (QLD) and is one of the largest jobactive agencies in Australia.
TURSA is and has been wholly committed to addressing the needs of disadvantaged people in our community through its constitutional objectives since registration as an organisation and a Public Benevolent Institution in 1994. That commitment came from the personal experiences, beliefs, and values of management and staff in living in an area that has been characterised by low average levels of income and high levels of unemployment and disadvantage – both real and comparative – due to the very difficult environment for employment and careers.
TURSA has provided and does provide essential services and support to Indigenous clients, people with disabilities, single and partnered parents, long term unemployed job seekers, young persons, mature aged persons, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and early school leavers.
