Tursa Employment & Training is more than a job agency. We are a not-for-profit, independent organisation founded in 1994 out of personal experience of long-term unemployment, for the express purpose of addressing unemployment and alleviating disadvantage suffered by people of the regions we are contracted to deliver services.
TURSA’s core business activity is all about work: finding work for people who need work, finding workers for businesses that need workers, and preparing and training participants for work through its status as a Registered Training Organisation.
From a staff of one in May 1995, TURSA now employs approximately 250+ staff, providing employment services to thousands of participants from conveniently located offices from Forster (NSW) to Noosaville (QLD) and is a leading Employment Service Provider delivering both Workforce Australia and Disability Employment Services.
TURSA is and has been wholly committed to addressing the needs of disadvantaged people in our community through its constitutional objectives since registration as an organisation and a Public Benevolent Institution in 1994. That commitment was born out of personal experience. These experiences, beliefs, and values of the original management and staff stemmed from living in an area that was characterised by low average levels of income, and high levels of unemployment and disadvantage due to the very difficult environment for employment and careers. Current management and staff continue to work to fulfill that vision, holding those same beliefs and values.
TURSA continues to provide essential employment services and support to Indigenous participants, people with disabilities, single and partnered parents, long-term unemployed participants, young persons, mature aged persons, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and early school leavers.
At TURSA, we recognise the importance of contributing to the community we serve, the environment in which we operate, the industries we partner with, and our key stakeholders. We understand that all of these entities are essential contributors for community growth, health and wellbeing, which is why they form part of every decision we make.
Since our inception, TURSA has promoted a clear ‘Buy Local’ policy that strongly encourages purchasing goods and services from local organisations and businesses. This demonstrates a clear, pragmatic example of our commitment to support and give back to our community. Buying local wherever possible makes good social and economic sense and contributes to job creation and stronger communities.
TURSA provides significant support to local organisations and contributes to our community’s social and economic development and well-being. We strive to ensure that our sponsorship and community-centred programmes allow us to foster positive and mutually beneficial relationships with our community.
We aren’t just your average employment agency, we take part in many sponsorship activities and events across the Mid-North Coast, North Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane South East, Wivenhoe, Somerset, Wide Bay, and Sunshine Coast every year. These sponsorship partnerships involve small community-based projects up to contributions to significant community activities and events.
Currently, we have 58 sites in our footprint; and we see that as an opportunity to support and strengthen 58 local communities.
Staying up to date with the latest news on employment has never been easier.
Tursa Employment & Training acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the elders past, present and emerging.
Your friends or family will thank you later.
