Providing Pathways for Our Youth Participants

For many young people, taking the first step into the workforce can feel overwhelming. From exploring career options and gaining workplace experience to building confidence and developing the skills employers are looking for, there can be a lot to navigate along the way. At TURSA, we’re committed to supporting young people through every stage of their employment journey, helping them build the confidence, skills, and experience they need to achieve their goals.

At TURSA, it’s important that we work closely with each participant to ensure they are job-ready, equipped with the right skills, and confident about entering the workforce.

Through our Transition to Work program, sisters Noor and Yasmine have successfully secured a 20-week full-time paid hospitality traineeship with MultiLink through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program. Delivered in partnership with Axiom College (RTO 40489), the traineeship provides participants with industry-relevant training, practical experience, and personalised support to help them build a strong foundation for future employment.

During their traineeship, Noor and Yasmine have developed valuable skills in customer service, teamwork, food preparation, front-of-house operations, and café service. They have also had the opportunity to gain industry-recognised certifications, including First Aid, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), Barista Training, and Safe Food Handling. Alongside this, participants gain hands-on experience operating commercial kitchen equipment, supporting catering and functions, and working within a diverse cultural environment.

With English not being their first language, finding employment had previously proved challenging for the sisters. Having access to a pathway that builds on their strengths and abilities has been instrumental in helping them gain confidence, develop practical workplace skills, and feel better prepared for long-term employment. The traineeship has also provided them with ongoing support, industry experience, and financial stability while they continue working towards their future goals.

Noor and Yasmine aspire to pursue careers in the real estate industry and plan to undertake further study to achieve their ambitions. The skills, experience, and confidence they are gaining through their traineeship will help support them as they take the next steps in their careers.

Their journey is another great example of how the right support, opportunities, and determination can help young people build the skills and confidence needed to achieve their employment goals. Through partnerships like the MultiLink Work Skills Traineeship, young people can access meaningful training opportunities that provide real-world experience, recognised qualifications, and the support needed to successfully transition into employment.

At TURSA, we’re proud to support participants like Noor and Yasmine as they build brighter futures and take important steps toward achieving their career aspirations.
