When Lee-Anne first connected with TURSA‘s Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program 18 months ago, she was facing some of the most challenging circumstances of her life.
Aged 60, Lee-Anne has experienced the impacts of mental health challenges throughout her life, which at times affected her ability to maintain stable employment. Despite previously building a successful career as a Disability Support Worker, a series of life changes led her to relocate to the Sunshine Coast nearly two years ago after losing her job.
What followed was a difficult period of uncertainty. Without secure accommodation, Lee-Anne found herself living in her car and navigating unstable housing arrangements, creating significant barriers to finding work and impacting her wellbeing. Through her participation in TURSA’s Inclusive Employment Australia program, Lee-Anne received ongoing support to address these barriers, rebuild her confidence, and work towards achieving greater stability in her life.
Throughout this time, TURSA remained by Lee-Anne’s side, providing practical support, encouragement, and guidance as she worked towards rebuilding stability. From assistance with job searching to helping her complete her First Aid certification, our team worked with Lee-Anne to ensure she had the support and resources needed to keep moving forward.
While homelessness and housing insecurity presented significant challenges to employment, Lee-Anne remained determined to create a better future. With consistent support and a strong commitment to her goals, she continued taking positive steps forward despite the obstacles she faced.
Today, Lee-Anne’s story is one of resilience and determination. She has secured her own permanent housing and is now in a much stronger position to pursue employment opportunities. With renewed confidence, stability, and the right supports in place, she is undertaking all the necessary steps to return to the workforce.
At TURSA, we understand that sustainable employment outcomes are often built on a foundation of stability, wellbeing, and support. By helping participants overcome barriers both inside and outside the workplace, we can support meaningful and lasting change.
We are incredibly proud of how far Lee-Anne has come and look forward to seeing what the future holds for her as she continues her journey towards employment and independence.
