If your current Workforce Australia provider is not giving you the support you need, you can request to change to another provider.
You can ask to change providers for any reason. This might be because you are not getting the right help, another provider offers services that better suit your needs, or you simply feel another provider would be a better fit.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to request the transfer online through your Workforce Australia account. You can also speak with your current provider or contact the Workforce Australia National Customer Service Line if you need help changing providers.
Below, we explain how to change Workforce Australia providers, what happens while your transfer is being reviewed and what to look for before choosing your new provider.
Can You Change Your Workforce Australia Provider?
Yes. Workforce Australia allows you to request a transfer to another provider for any reason.
For example, you might decide to change because:
- you do not feel you are receiving the right support
- communication with your current provider is not working for you
- you have found another provider that better matches your employment needs
- another provider has a more convenient location
- you want access to different employment, training or job-readiness support.
You can search for available providers based on your location through Workforce Australia’s provider search.
The exact transfer process can depend on the employment services program you participate in. The steps below primarily focus on people participating in Workforce Australia Services.
Workforce Australia also has separate arrangements for programs such as Inclusive Employment Australia and Transition to Work.
How to Change Workforce Australia Providers Online
If the online transfer option is available to you, you can request a new provider through the Workforce Australia website or app.
Follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Workforce Australia account through the website or Workforce Australia app.
- Go to Your Account. On the website, select your name in the top-right menu. In the app, select the profile icon.
- Select Your provider and support.
- Find Change your provider and select Choose a new provider.
- Review the providers available for your residential address.
- Select a provider and read their profile to make sure their services suit your needs.
- Select Continue if you want to request a transfer to that provider.
- Review the Submit your provider transfer request screen.
- Select Confirm and submit.
- Wait for Workforce Australia to tell you the outcome of your transfer request.
If you change your mind before submitting the request, you can select a different provider instead.
What Happens After You Request a Provider Change?
Submitting the request does not mean your provider changes immediately.
For Workforce Australia Services transfers completed through the online process, your current provider and the provider you want to join must both agree before the transfer can proceed.
According to Workforce Australia, reviewing your transfer request can take up to seven weekdays, including public holidays.
You will be told whether your request has been successful once the review is complete.
Keep Working With Your Current Provider Until the Transfer Is Confirmed
You should not stop attending required appointments or meeting your existing requirements simply because you have submitted a transfer request.
Until Workforce Australia confirms the transfer, you must continue working with your current provider and meeting any obligations that apply to you.
If you have an agreed Job Plan, continue following the obligations in that plan during the transfer period.
This is particularly important if you receive an income support payment and have mutual obligation requirements.
Do You Have to Speak to Your Current Provider Before Changing?
You can speak with your current provider and ask them to arrange a transfer, but you do not have to handle the situation entirely through them.
If you do not feel comfortable discussing the transfer with your provider, you can contact the Workforce Australia National Customer Service Line on 1800 805 260.
The National Customer Service Line can also help if you are having problems with your provider’s service or need assistance resolving an issue.
You do not need to make a complaint simply because you want to change providers. Workforce Australia allows participants to request a transfer for any reason.
What If You Can't Change Workforce Australia Providers Online?
Not everyone will be able to complete their transfer through their Workforce Australia account.
For example, you might:
- not see any alternative providers listed
- be unable to find the change-provider option
- have trouble accessing your Workforce Australia account
- participate in another employment services program
- need assistance with your transfer request.
If no available providers appear in your Workforce Australia account, you can ask your existing provider for help with the transfer or contact Workforce Australia directly.
You can contact the National Customer Service Line on 1800 805 260 for assistance.
Can You Cancel a Workforce Australia Provider Transfer?
Yes. If your transfer request is still pending, Workforce Australia allows you to cancel it.
You might decide to cancel because you:
- want to remain with your existing provider
- selected the wrong provider
- found another provider you would prefer to join.
To cancel a pending transfer:
- Sign in to Workforce Australia.
- Go to Your Account.
- Select Your provider and support.
- Find Your transfer request.
- Select Cancel request.
- Confirm that you understand and want to cancel the request.
- Select Cancel request.
You can then remain with your existing provider or start another transfer request.
Before You Switch: What Should You Look for in a Workforce Australia Provider?
Changing providers gives you an opportunity to find support that better matches what you actually need to get into work.
Before requesting a transfer, compare the providers available in your area and consider:
- Consistency: Will you have an Employment Adviser who gets to know your goals and circumstances?
- Practical job-search help: Can they assist with résumés, applications, interviews and finding suitable vacancies?
- Employer connections: Do they work directly with employers in your local area?
- Training: Can they help you build skills that improve your employment prospects?
- Individual support: Will they take the time to understand barriers that may be making it harder for you to find work?
- Location and accessibility: Can you realistically attend appointments and access the support you need?
- Support after starting work: Will they continue helping you once you secure a job?
Think about why you want to leave your current provider. This can help you identify what needs to be different about the next one you choose.

Connect With Employers Looking for Staff
A strong employment provider should understand both sides of the hiring process.
TURSA works directly with employers to fill vacancies. This includes screening résumés, shortlisting suitable applicants, referring candidates and identifying training needs where appropriate.
Your Employment Adviser can use TURSA’s employer relationships and available vacancies to help identify opportunities suited to your skills and employment goals.
The aim is not simply to send more applications. It is to help you become a stronger candidate and connect you with suitable employment opportunities.
Keep Getting Support Once You Start Work
Getting the job is only part of the goal. Staying in work and becoming confident in your new role matters too.
TURSA can provide on-the-job support for 26 weeks or more after you start work.
Depending on your circumstances, this may include:
- ongoing guidance and mentoring
- further training
- assistance accessing clothes, tools or equipment where funding is available
- workplace modifications where appropriate
- help addressing issues that could make it harder to remain employed.
This gives you someone to turn to while you adjust to your new workplace rather than having support disappear as soon as you get the job.
